Although born in England, Paul Jones has proven himself to be a devoted
Welshman, and his commitment to the red shirt has been invaluable over the
last five years. Making his debut in 1997 against Scotland, Jones
established himself as the Welsh number one goalkeeper - a jersey
difficult to fill after Big Neville Southall's long reign between the
sticks.
Although at the moment his club first team place in under exreme
threat due to the arrival of Fin stopper Antti Niemi, Southampton have a
lot to thank the Welsh keeper, as his displays at The Dell and St Mary's
have been second to none over the last five seasons. |
